Professional Background

Theodore Nelson, Sr., has a Masters Degree in Social Work. He currently is a child welfare consultant, a licensed clinical social worker, and a children and family therapist in private practice.

In the past, he was a foster care administrator for the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

 

Work on Indian Child Welfare

His community experience has included being on a tribal court committee and a tribal housing committee; serving as a county education board tribal representative, and he is currently the Seminole Tribe's board representative to the board of directors of the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA).

His other Indian child welfare experience includes, on a personal note, being a devoted father of five and grandfather to three grandchildren.
