National Child Welfare Association

Member Testimonials

The National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) is the voice to the hundreds of Indian children and families who often do not have a voice to advocate for their needs or services. NICWA staff, board and consultants provide and support top quality training and technical assistance to tribal and urban communities working to bring peace, harmony and balance to tribal families. They are definately a part of the greater wellness circle and force behind creating healthy parents, children and child welfare workers. That is why I choose to be a member of the National Indian Child Welfare Association. As Native people we have to step up to the responsibility of not only helping each other but our Indian organizations as well! I encourage and challenge anyone reading this to become a member today and support the important work of NICWA.”

NICWA is our most valuable national membership because NICWA is the only national organization wholly dedicated to the well-being of Native children, which is a priority for Anita and me personally and should be among our most urgent domestic priorities as a civilized nation.

“Membership is one way to make a personal and professional commitment; it establishes a relationship with the organization and its work; it says ‘this is important,’ and makes us part of the effort.

“CWLA recognizes that NICWA's resources, advocacy, training, publications, and support services are critical for tribal and urban Indian communities in setting policy and creating excellent programs that support Indian children and families; it excites us that communities have access to NICWA's state-of-the-art resources and technical assistance. We know first-hand that NICWA provides invaluable support every day to mainstream child welfare organizations on which we depend to do the right thing in child welfare decision-making and services involving Native children, families and communities.

“Membership facilitates the strong partnership between CWLA, my employer, and NICWA, which is necessary to carry out joint initiatives aimed at strengthening ICW practice in the states.”
