Iona Hansel (Umatilla), Deputy Director, was administrative assistant for National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) from 1985 to 1987, returned to that position in 1988, became the fiscal manager in 1993 and then deputy director in 2004 when NICWA reorganized its management structure. Ms. Hansel worked for the Indian Health Services for nine years, where she was the Contract Health Services Officer, monitoring 20 million dollars in IHS contract health care for the Portland area. She served as volunteer bookkeeper for the Oregon Chapter of the National Committee for Prevention of Child Abuse from 1985 to 1986 and helped create an accounting system. She is highly skilled in planning and management.
