Member Relations Manager
(503) 222-4044, Ext. 127
Tristan Tipps-Webster brings over 18 years of experience in the international, government, and nonprofit sectors to her role as member relations manager with NICWA. Born in Southern California, Tristan recently moved back to the United States with her family after living and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Australia for the last 20 years.
Her career has included management of an Aboriginal language revival grants program, providing Aboriginal government policy and advocacy at both state and federal levels on a range of areas affecting Indigenous communities, such as land rights, natural resource management, child protection, and language protection and human rights. Her United Nations experience with the Australian Human Rights Commission was an opportunity to work internationally to ensure the rights of Indigenous people worldwide are embraced, protected, and advanced by communities and governments alike. Working as part of the team who established a national Australian representative start-up nonprofit for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people cultivated Tristan’s understanding of the value of having a strong, empowered membership base, and of collaborating with that base to promote issues with decisionmakers.
Tristan is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz in anthropology and psychology and of Sydney University in Australian Aboriginal studies.
