Apply for our Wisdom Circle Scholarship

NICWA awards an annual merit-based scholarship of up to $500 to one NICWA member who works in or with the American Indian/Alaska Native child welfare (ICW) field, and who demonstrates significant motivation in advancing their education or professional skills in the field. If possible, and only if awardee is attending, NICWA will present a check and acknowledge the hard work of the recipient during the membership reception that kicks off our four-day annual conference.


Applicants must be a current NICWA member to apply. Only one scholarship will be awarded per person, per lifetime.

Applicants must be doing ICW work in one of the following fields:

  • Social work
  • Law
  • Policy
  • Research
  • Education
  • Tribal sovereignty/human rights
  • Mental health/well-being

Applicants should submit the following materials:

  • Completed Wisdom Circle Scholarship Application
  • Current resume
  • Proof of registration/copy of receipt from the institution offering the ICW-related course, training, workshop, or class
